My Educational Background
I went to college at LSU and Northwestern for 5 years. From Northwestern, I graduated with a degree in Nursing. I passed my state boards and was granted a license as a Registered Nurse in 1990. After that, I took even more classes, advancing my education even further. These classes allowed me to work in high-tech areas and to teach high-tech topics and techniques. I ended up with a HUGE number of college credits that were just extra.
I found that I LOVED teaching. As we made the decision to homeschool our daughter, I began writing different studies and lapbooks for our own homeschool. I used a lot of techniques from Dinah Zike’s “Big Book of Books” and Tamy Duby’s “Lapbook Handbook.” These books taught me so much about lapbooks and how to make a variety of booklets.
As I began to write more and more, I became EXTREMELY interested in the psychology behind colors. At our local co-ops, I began to write and design lapbooks to go along with our curriculum. In doing this, I learned even more and developed my own theories about how information retention could be improved through colors and shapes. So over about 2 years, I tried out some of my theories with groups of kids in our co-ops, determining how colors affected their memory. It was AMAZING .
After more research and study in the field of color psychology and several studies within our own co-ops, I decided that I would check into what type of credits I could receive because of all of this work. After looking into several colleges, I found what I was looking for. Ashdwood College allowed me to submit papers, studies, peer reviews, etc. along with a dissertation entitled, “Information Retention - Improved Through Color & Shape.” I was granted a PhD in Education for my studies in the area of Color Psychology. I was SO honored!
So….my PhD in Education was life experience-based, but it was granted to me just the same. I have continued to do research in this field and to speak to many groups about how these techniques can be used to improve learning. In fact, I’m in the process of writing a book on this very topic.

Hi,
Question about the Apologia Botany lapbook ebook. I see there’s a lesson 1-6 version and lesson 1-13 lesson. Is there a difference in the content?
When is the 50% off sales end? Is there an expiration date for $10 off coupon code? Can that be combined with current promotion? Thank you
I would like to express my appreciation for your post. That’s really great to know that there are such people like you who do their job very well and with such enthusiasm.
