Mardi Gras King Cake FINISHED!
Finally, I finished this cake. It’s not pretty as the one in my previous post……but……it tastes good! Here is a picture:

Then….right before I finished it, my husband and daughter walked in the door. Guess what they had with them? A King Cake from the BEST King Cake Bakery in Louisiana. How dare they????
But….my mom and aunt tried mine and said it was BETTER than the one from the bakery!!

Your cake is beautiful! I was wondering if you doubled the recipe to get such a big cake. I made a fourth of the recipe as a test and it was tiny. And two cups of flour doesn’t seem like it’ll yield such a big cake. If you want a good laugh and to feel really good about yourself, here’s my trial cake. I’ll be sure to not overfill it next time

No, I didn’t double it. I did tweak the filling recipe a bit….but not the rest. Your pictures was funny…I have to say! But did it taste good? That’s all that matters!

Thanks for the information! I’m making it again on Tuesday and wanted to make sure I’ll have enough. I used half cream cheese filling and half of the recipe’s pecan filling and it was the most delicious king cake ever. It just happened to be a visual disaster. Thanks again!
